“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the
care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease”
Thomas Edison
The goal of acupunture is to optimize your health and wellness by balancing your entire body, mind and
spirit. We believe that while ailments have localized or branch symptoms, they all have underlying root
causes. These root origins are imbalances, which, over time, manifest in varying symptomatic problems
throughout the body. Left untreated the symptoms worsen. Acupuncture treats the branch and root of the
condition. Women's health, Infertility, Prenatal issues and all internal medicine problems can be treated
with acupunture and herbal medicine to balance the whole person – body, mind and spirit.
What to Expect?
Before the needles are placed, you'll lie down on a comfortable surface. Depending on where the needles
are to go, you will lie face down, face up or on your side. You may feel a brief, sharp sensation when the
needle is inserted, but generally the procedure isn't painful.
It's common, however, to feel a deep aching sensation when the needle reaches the correct depth. After
placement, the needles are sometimes moved gently or stimulated with electricity or heat. As many as a
dozen needles may need to be placed for each treatment. Once the needles are inserted, they're usually
left in place for five to 20 minutes.
How does acupuncture work?
The aim of the treatment is to restore the balance of the universal energy Qi (pronounced chee) in the
body, through the application of fine needles into strategic points on the body. Qi consists of Yin and Yang
and these two opposite, but complementary, forces need to be in balance otherwise disease or illness
occurs in the body. Acupuncture needles are used in specific acupuncture points which give access to the
meridians in the body through which the Qi flows so that adjustments can be made to balance the Yin and
Yang thus restoring harmony and health.
